Add Character to Photos: Agfa Precisa CT 100 Presets
Agfa Precisa CT 100 was a chrome slide film, developed in E-6 chemistry and rated at ISO 100. Shot normally, it produced sharp, fine-grained images with vivid but controlled color. Shot for cross-processing, it was something else entirely.
Cross-processing means developing E-6 slide film in C-41 color negative chemistry. The color dyes weren’t designed for that process, so they shift. With Precisa CT 100, the result was high contrast, compressed midtones, cyan shadows, and warm yellow-orange highlights, a color signature that became closely associated with 1990s editorial and fashion photography.

Film Simulation Presets
Precisa CT 100 natural
Standard E-6 rendering. Vivid but accurate color, sharp contrast, very fine grain. What the film looked like when processed correctly in slide chemistry.
Precisa CT 100 vivid
Pushes the saturation and contrast beyond the Natural base. The color shift leans toward the cross-process palette without fully committing to it.
Precisa CT 100 cool
Shifts the overall tone toward blue-cyan. Closer to what cross-processing does to the shadows of Precisa CT 100.
Precisa CT 100 warm
Yellow-orange shift across the midtones and highlights. Works well on outdoor daylight shots and skin.
Precisa CT 100 pulled
Simulates pulling the film one stop: softer contrast, more open shadows, slightly lower saturation. Reduces the typical harshness of a low-ISO slide film.
Precisa CT 100 pushed
Simulates pushing. Increases contrast, deepens shadows, adds intensity to the color. Useful for underexposed shots or when you want more visual punch.
Precisa CT 100 flat
Lifts the blacks and reduces contrast. The opposite of what slide film naturally does, useful for faded or matte finishing.
Precisa CT 100 balance
A neutral, corrective base. Used to set exposure and tone before applying another preset, or as a clean starting point on difficult images.

Image: Agfa
Agfa introduced Precisa CT 100 as a daylight-balanced chrome slide film rated at ISO 100. Developed in E-6 chemistry, it produced extremely fine grain, high resolution, and color that was vivid but not artificially saturated, closer to natural scene rendition than Fujichrome Velvia, less clinical than Kodak Ektachrome.
But Precisa CT 100’s reputation was built as much on cross-processing as on its standard E-6 behavior. Cross-processing, developing an E-6 slide film in C-41 color negative chemistry, produces unpredictable but often dramatic results. With Precisa CT 100, the color dyes shifted in a consistent direction: high contrast, compressed midtones, cyan-blue in the shadows, warm in the highlights.
The look became associated with editorial and fashion work through the 1990s and early 2000s and is still referenced as a color reference by photographers who never shot the film. For a detailed real-world assessment, see this Agfa Precisa CT 100 review.
Agfa discontinued Precisa CT 100 in 2005.
Key facts:
- Film type: Chrome slide film (reversal)
- ISO rating: 100
- Process: E-6 (standard); widely cross-processed in C-41
- Grain structure: Extremely fine
- Exposure latitude: Narrow, typical of reversal film; precise exposure required
- Color character: Vivid and natural in E-6; high contrast, color-shifted when cross-processed
- iscontinued: 2005
These Agfa Precisa CT 100 Presets recreate the look of an ISO 100 slide film, both its natural E-6 character and its cross-processed variants. Here’s what to know:
- They work in Lightroom Desktop and Lightroom Mobile for Android and iPhone.
- RAW files give the best results. Precisa CT 100 was a high-resolution film and the fine grain and tonal detail that made it distinctive comes through more clearly on RAW than JPEG.
- Slide film has narrow exposure latitude, unlike negative film, it doesn’t handle overexposure or underexposure well. These presets behave the same way. Start with a well-exposed image. An image that’s two stops over will not respond the same as one that’s correctly exposed.
- The Vivid and Cool variants lean toward the cross-process look. If the color shift is too strong, pull the saturation slider back before adjusting anything else.
- Pulled works well on bright outdoor shots where the contrast of the Natural preset feels too harsh. Pushed works well on flat or overcast scenes that need more separation.
- The Balance preset is designed to be used first on difficult exposures, before layering another Precisa preset on top.

I got this preset because I see the sample photos at my friend and they looked very good. Was easy to install with the instructions, even for me because English is not my first language. The colors are really close to real film, very natural but still have that vintage touch. Very happy with this purchase.

Obsessed with this one!! The greens and blues just pop without looking fake. Used it on a hike I did last weekend and every photo looked like it belonged on a postcard.

Honestly wasn’t sure about spending money on a preset when I could just mess with sliders myself, but this changed my mind. There’s something about it that I couldn’t quite recreate on my own, the color tones feel really specific, like actual expired film. Downloaded it straight to my iPad and it worked first try. Already looking at the other Legendary Presets collections now.
