Versatility: Gold 200 produces warm, slightly vintage colors and handles different lighting conditions well. It’s not a specialist film, it’s a reliable all-rounder that suits most shooting situations without much fuss. If you’re after warm, pleasing tones with a hint of nostalgia, this is a good starting point.

Low Cost and Wide Availability: As a consumer film, Gold 200 is priced well below professional stocks like Portra or Ektar, and you can find it almost anywhere. That combination of price and availability made it a go-to for a lot of photographers shooting on a budget.

Color Reproduction: Colors are vibrant but not overdone, there’s warmth there, but the image still reads as natural. It has a quality that feels more interesting than a flat digital file, without going so far that it looks processed. Works well for street, portraits, and outdoor subjects.

Grain and Aesthetic: Gold 200 is noticeably grainier than ISO 100 professional stocks, but I find the grain works in its favor. It adds character rather than noise. If you want that unmistakable film texture, this delivers it.

Flexibility: In bright, well-lit conditions this film performs really well, on par with Fujicolor 200 and Superia 200 in my experience. It won’t win against higher-ISO stocks like UltraMax in low light, but in good light it’s hard to argue with the results. It’s the film I reach for most when shooting 35mm outdoors.

Gold 200 was designed for daylight, and these presets reflect that. They work best on:

• Travel and outdoor photography: the warm tones suit natural light, open skies, and sunlit streets
• Portraits: skin tones come out natural and slightly warm without going orange
• Everyday and lifestyle shots: casual frames, markets, cafes, anything shot in good available light
• Wedding photography: the soft grain and warm palette suit outdoor ceremonies and golden hour receptions

In low light, Gold 200 is not the right choice, for that, look at Kodak Portra 800 or Fujifilm Superia X-TRA 800. But in good light, it’s hard to beat.

Gold 100 is cleaner and smoother, built for bright light situations where you want minimal grain. Gold 400 runs warmer and more saturated, with a bit more grain to handle lower light.

Gold 200 sits in the middle, versatile enough for most outdoor situations, with that slightly warm, slightly grainy character the film became known for. If you shoot mostly in daylight and want a look that works across portraits, travel, and everyday shots, Gold 200 is the one.

The Kodak Gold 200 presets for Lightroom are built to work across a wide range of photos and give you consistent results with one click. These Kodak Lightroom presets work on both the desktop and mobile versions of Lightroom, so you can edit on your phone or computer.

You can shoot with any camera, DSLR, mirrorless, point-and-shoot, or smartphone. Import your photo into Lightroom, apply the preset, and adjust from there.

Keep in mind that presets respond to the light in your photo. A well-exposed RAW file will give you the best result. If your shot is overexposed or underexposed, the preset may not land the way you expect, fix the exposure first, then apply.

After applying, use Lightroom’s sliders to fine-tune to your taste. If skin tones shift, the HSL color panel will sort it out quickly.

Installing Presets in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 10.3+ (Windows & Mac)

1. Open your image in Adobe Photoshop.
2. At the top menue click on Filter and select “Camera Raw Filter”.
3. On the right you see the word “Basic” click the small burger next to it. Then, click “Load Settings”.
4. Choose the .xmp file(s) from downloaded and unzipped folder. Then click on “Load” button.
5. To apply a preset, click on OK button.
