Fujifilm released Superia X-TRA 400 in the late 1990s as part of the Superia consumer range. It was designed as an all-purpose film, the one you bought at the airport or the pharmacy before a trip, loaded, and trusted to deliver decent results across whatever situations you found yourself in.
What made it stand out was the color rendering. Warm tones with a slight green shift, moderate grain for an ISO 400 stock, and a wide enough exposure latitude to handle less-than-perfect shooting conditions. It wasn’t a professional film, but it performed consistently and produced a color look that a lot of photographers came to prefer over more neutral options.
Fujifilm discontinued the Superia X-TRA 400 in 2024, replacing it with the new Fujifilm 400. These presets keep the original Superia X-TRA 400 look accessible in Lightroom.
- ISO 400 Speed
- Vibrant, Accurate Color Reproduction
- Medium grain, more visible than ISO 100 stocks, adds texture without overwhelming detail
- Wide Exposure Latitude
- Distinct Warm, Rich Tones
- Impressive Sharpness and Detail
- The Superia X-TRA 400 has been discontinued in 2024, and is replaced by the new Fujifilm 400.
Superia 400 was built for versatility. These presets work well across a broad range of subjects:
- Street photography: the warm tones with a slight green shift give urban shots a natural, lived-in quality
- Travel: handles mixed lighting conditions well, whether that’s harsh midday sun or open shade
- Everyday and lifestyle: markets, cafés, parks: the kind of candid frames this film was designed for
- Portraits in natural light: flattering warmth without the orange push you get from Kodak consumer stocks
- Events and social photography: wide exposure latitude means consistent results even when the light changes fast
- Start with the natural variant: it’s the closest to how the film actually renders. Use it as your baseline before trying the others.
- The cool variant works well for overcast days: it keeps the warmth from going too yellow in flat, diffused light.
- Pulled variant suits indoor shots: lower contrast handles mixed artificial light better than the base preset.
- Watch the greens. Superia’s slight green shift is part of the look, but on images with a lot of foliage it can get heavy. Pull back the green hue slider in HSL slightly if needed.
- Works best on RAW files: the film’s wide exposure latitude is easier to replicate when you have full RAW data to work with.

The Fujifilm Superia X-TRA 400 presets for Lightroom work on both desktop and mobile versions of Lightroom. Import your photo, apply the preset, and adjust from there.
Superia 400 is a versatile film with a wide exposure latitude, the presets reflect that. They handle a broad range of exposures without needing heavy corrections. Apply the preset first, then fine-tune exposure and white balance to taste.
For best results use RAW files. JPG works but gives you less room to adjust after applying.
With our Clean Edit Presets you can set the perfect foundation of your image by adjusting for example white balance, exposure, whites, tones, etc. Each clean edit preset changes only one value, without overwriting other adjustments and values.
You can use the Presets in XMP format also in Adobe Photoshop

The Fuji Superia presets bring my street photography to life. They capture the mood perfectly with rich tones and beautiful contrast. So easy to use.

Finally replaced my old VSCO Fuji presets. Tried all seven. The vivid is the one I keep coming back to. Punchy without overdoing the saturation – recommended.
