“The Velvia 100 presets are my go-to for mountain and forest shots. Colors match close to actual slide scans – greens stay green, skies go deep blue without looking fake. Not oversaturated.” Zander W., Photographer
Bring Analog Film Magic to Your Photos with Velvia 100 Presets for Lightroom
Velvia 100 is a slide film, not a color negative. That distinction matters. Slide film (also called reversal film, or E-6 process) produces images with higher contrast, richer saturation, and deeper shadows than standard negative film. There’s no orange base layer to compensate for. What you shoot is what you see.
These 7 presets were built from Fujichrome Velvia 100 scan references, not approximated from how people describe Velvia, but from what it actually looks like on a light table. No fiddling with 15 sliders.

Fujifilm released Velvia 50 in 1990, and it quickly became the landscape photographer’s film of choice. The ISO 100 version arrived later, giving one extra stop of speed while keeping the same saturated character.
Velvia 100 is a color reversal film, also called slide film or E-6 film. Unlike color negative film, which captures a latent image and requires color inversion during printing, reversal film produces a positive image directly on the film base. The result is higher contrast, richer color, and a look that digital sensors still struggle to replicate naturally.
The film’s defining trait was its color response. Greens in nature photography came out electric. Skies went deep blue without a polarizing filter. Warm afternoon light held its glow without turning muddy. Professional landscape and nature photographers shot with it heavily through the 1990s and early 2000s.
It required careful exposure. Slide film has roughly half the dynamic range of negative film, so a half-stop error in either direction showed up clearly in the final image. Bracketing was standard practice.
Fujifilm discontinued Velvia 100 in 2021. Velvia 50 remains available. (Source: Fujifilm)
Key facts:
- Color reversal film (E-6 process) not a color negative film
- Known for vivid colors and very high saturation
- Fine grain structure for excellent detail at ISO 100
- Narrow exposure range, careful metering required
- Loved by landscape and nature photographers
- Discontinued in 2021
These Fujichrome Velvia 100 Presets are built for the high-saturation, fine-grain look of Velvia 100 slide film. Here’s what you need to know:
- They work in both Lightroom Desktop and Lightroom Mobile for Android and iPhone.
- You can apply them to photos from any camera, DSLR, mirrorless, or smartphone. RAW files give the best result.
- Because Velvia 100 was a high-contrast film, the presets work best on well-exposed images. Very dark or overexposed shots won’t give you the full look.
- After applying, use Lightroom’s exposure and highlight sliders to fine-tune. A small adjustment goes a long way.
- For portraits: Velvia’s saturation can push warm skin tones toward orange, same as the real film does. Use Lightroom’s HSL panel to correct skin tones after applying the preset.

The included clean edit presets are actually useful. I use the exposure clean edit as a base before applying Velvia 100 on top. Stacking works well and gives you a cleaner starting point. Good value for the money.
